So What does a Traditional Tour Cost?

It only took a few minutes of bumping around the internet to find the representative prices for a traditional tour to Italy. They ranged from $3,000 to $5,000 USD per person. These were prices for standard tours, per person. A group bus, some meals, admission fees, a guide and accommodations. Airfare was not included.

Not only do we not like to travel like this, if we had to pay this much for every trip, our places visited list would have been cut drastically. Our bucket list would still be full.

Wisely on a Budget doesn't mean Cheap

Traveling on a budget doesn't mean traveling cheap or unsafe. Often, as we've traveled, we've stayed in the same places the nets' most famous tours frequent - they've done their research. Many times though we've found better for less. We demand clean, well run accommodations with good mattresses and attentive hosts. We eat well, rent an occasional car and see the same sites the tours see and many they can't - the bus won't stop. We've learned how to comfortably get the most from our travel dollars.

What do we spend for 15 days or more? $4,500 or less!

That's for two people, including airfare and that's the high end. Usually our trip costs for two are closer to $3,500 to $4,000 for everything. Exchange rate fluctuations can wreak havoc with trip costs. "On Being Travelers" has a chapter dedicated to how we now deal with foreign currency.

Your Trip Costs are in Your Hands

What will your trip cost? That's entirely up to you. If you decide to travel the entire time just the way we've learned, our budget should work for you - be sure to factor in your lab fee for your trip with us. If you choose to stay in a 5 star Spa Hotel a few nights and dine on gourmet food, enjoy it. If you want to cut your trip cost down even more, you can do it. The nicest feature of Tourist Trekking Travel Labs is that you decide - not us. And you will always have us close by to advise and help you get the most from your travel budget.

Two to Travel?

Two people can travel almost as cheaply as one. Except for the extra airline ticket of course. Double rooms are just slightly more than singles - many have two twin beds - and dining and transportation costs aren't a large portion of the budget. Be sure to take advantage of the 20% Lab Fee Discount when you book with a friend, spouse, significant other or whatever. That's 20% off for each of you. If you're traveling single and would like to share room costs with another lab participant we will do our best to help arrange it. It's nice to have someone to snap a photo.
